Sharon's Calendar

We will try to keep the calendar as comprehensive and up to date as possible.  If you see that Sharon will be signing at your local bookstore or at an event in your community, it gives you the opportunity to plan ahead, grab your friends, stop at a yard sale and then, meet Sharon, show her your finds and buy signed books.

If you see that there is a reading/signing sort-of-kind-of near your area and you have a library or bookstore which might like to host a reading or plan a mystery event, ask your bookseller or librarian to contact Sharon and ask if an additional appearance is possible.

The Jane Wheel Vegetable Memorial Weekend

Former Kankakee County resident and mystery author Sharon Fiffer will make a guest appearance at the Kankakee Farmers’ Market Saturday, June 11 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the gazebo.  The Kankakee Farmers’ Market is held in the parking lot at the corner of Schuyler Avenue and Merchant Street in downtown Kankakee.  The market hours are 7am to noon.

Fiffer will be signing copies of her latest release, Backstage Stuff, and distributing recipes of “Nellie’s EZ Way Inn Vegetable Soup” to Market shoppers.  Mayor Nina Epstein and Market Manager Bill Yohnka will present Fiffer with a “Key to the Farmers’ Market.”  In addition, those attending can register to win a Jane Wheel tote bag, complete with signed copies of previous Wheel mysteries.  Copies of Backstage Stuff and various copies of Fiffer’s other books in the same series will be available for sale.

Fiffer’s Jane Wheel Mysteries chronicle the (mis)adventures of antique collector and amateur sleuth Jane Wheel, whose hometown is Kankakee.  Each book frequently mentions various landmarks and locations within the Kankakee area, as well as the EZ Way Inn – a tavern fictionally-owned by Wheel’s parents, Don and Nellie, and formerly owned by Fiffer’s parents.  Fiffer is a graduate of Bishop McNamara High School.  She currently lives in the Chicago area with her husband, Steve, and “depending on the time of year, one, two or three” of her children.
